The company was organized in 1973 as a Manufacturer's Representative under the name Metcalf Associates. In 1992, the founder retired. There are presently four owners, whose seniority ranges from 1984 through 1989. In 1997 the company name was changed to North East Technical Sales.  

We represent manufacturers offering instrumentation products for measurement, analysis and control. These products range from small items to large capital goods and intricate systems. We serve as an Exclusive Representative for most of our Principals; in many cases stocking some of their products. In a few select cases we are a non-exclusive Distributor.    

Originally, we sold products to industrial accounts, but our business has grown to include the commercial and municipal sectors. Over the last seven years we have become very active in the environmental market, including water and waste water.    

Our industrial business focuses on the process industry in petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, as well as, power, oil and gas transportation and distribution. We find many opportunities in metals, food, glass and paper and there is a wide array of OEM activity. Engineering houses are numerous in our territory and we have a solid mix of major corporation's home offices and plants. Commercially, we concentrate on buildings' utility systems and environmental monitoring.    

We provide installation, start-up support, maintenance and calibration services, and product training. We are a "hands-on" type company. Our personnel are comfortable on the plant floor, on top of a storage tank or in an office environment.    

Our territory has also grown from the metropolitan Philadelphia area. We now cover the Middle Atlantic states from Metropolitan New York City through Washington DC, including the eastern half of PA and northen VA (MANA marketing areas 3, 5 & 6).    

In 2003, we moved to our present location in Harleysville. PA. All of our outside salespeople work from an office in their homes spaced throughout our sales territory.    

We actively participate in technical organizations such as ISA, ISPE, WEF and the AGA. Our people have served as officers in these organizations. We attend monthly meetings, sponsor dinner table-top displays, exhibit at local and regional shows, provide newsletter advertising and instruct classes.
